This Week's Reads

Maleficent
by Rayluaza (DeviantArt)

A Madness of Angels by Kate Griffin
Matthew Swift #1 (Goodreads)
**This is another random off my TBR. I ended up liking the one from last week. Plus, more older books off the pile is always a good thing.
This is a kind of back from the dead, revenge, urban fantasy book. I really don't know much more than that and angel books can be hit or miss ( so are the reviews on this one).

A Study in Brimstone by G.S. Denning
Warlock Holmes #1
**This was a random pick up. I wasn't in a rush this week at the library and had to time to just browse. This is what a found, a reimagining of Sherlock Holmes stories with a fantasy humor twist. Plus, with this blurb I had to give it a try:
a glorious new take on the ever-popular Sherlock Holmes myth, featuring the vampire Inspector Vladislav Lestrade, the ogre Inspector Torg Grogsson, and Dr. Watson, the true detective at 221b. And Sherlock. A warlock.

This Week's Reads

Goodnight
by Red-Izak (DeviantArt)

An Echo of Things to Come by James Islington
The Licanius Trilogy #2 (Goodreads)
**I really liked book one, The Shadow of What Was Lost. Islington has created an interesting epic fantasy world, even with some similarities to other magical places, it is still unique and entertaining.

Visions of Magic by Regan Hastings
The Awakening #1 (Goodreads)
**So I ended up requesting this book based on my way too big tbr on Goodreads, and trying to make it a bit smaller. Put in the total number in random # generator and this is the book that came up. I really don't remember putting this book on there or anything about it, that said when I read the blurb, it still sounds like a book I would enjoy. With hunted witches and magic with some romance thrown in I'm looking forward to giving it a try.

This Week's Reads

Breach to Diagon Alley
by WormholePaintings (DeviantArt)

Tarnished City by Vic james
Dark Gifts #2 (Goodreads)
**I really liked book one until the final two pages. I did not like how the author took one of the female leads and took her from a fairy-tale dreamer to a kick ass UF heroine in a couple of paragraphs. I decided to give this a try despite that because I really did enjoy the rest of the book and characters. I've read a couple of chapters and was doing well until I got to Abi's. James seems to still have her doing things, or having the ability to do things, that are way out of her character. I'm going to keep reading and maybe just skim her parts.

Blade Song by J.C. Daniels
Colbana Files #1 (Goodreads)
**I was looking through the hoopla app on my kindle for something new to read. The first five books from this series were all on my recommended page and I'm always looking for new UF to read. So far, it's keeping my interest.
