This Week's Reads

Shetland Unicorns
by engelszorn (DeviantArt)

Urban Enemies edited by Joseph Nassise
Anthology (Goodreads)
**Short stories told from the PoV of the villains of some of the biggest UF series. Just by the list of authors on the cover I was going to grab this one but with this twist I'm even more excited to read it.

The Book of Swords edited by Gardner Dozois
**Went for the short stories this week. This one is based on epic fantasy worlds. I'm only familiar with about half of these authors but always a good way to find new authors.

Odd & True by Cat Winters
** I'm not familiar with this one but was initially grabbed by the cover. A curse mixed with monster hunting that's a family affair (of sorts). Cannot wait to start this one.

This Week's Reads

Wonder Woman
by  VarshaVijayan (DeviantArt)

Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo
DC Icons #1 (Goodreads)
**I've enjoyed all the Wonder Woman stuff I've been reading lately. Saw this at the library and had to grab it. All the reviews I've seen on this one are positive, which doesn't always work out for me, but hoping I like this one as much as everyone else has.

Poe: Stories and Poems
Graphic Novel adapted by Gareth Hinds (Goodreads)
**This is me getting ready for Halloween. Easing myself into it. This is really the only time of year that I do seasonal reads. Graphics to go along with the writings of Poe seemed a good start.

The Shadow of What Was Lost by James Islington
The Licanius Trilogy #1 (Goodreads)
While looking for a new fantasy book came across this series. Not really familiar with it or the author but it seems like one that I would like. It's been compared to some big names in this genre which always worries me but there seem to be a lot of good ratings on Goodreads for this one.

This Week's Reads

Doodling Forest

by  YngveMartinussen (DeviantArt)

The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton
**I'm about halfway through this one and am still not sure. It has kept my interest but I don't really feel I know what it is about. There are times it feels disjointed, to me, yet I have to keep reading to find out what happens to the people in this house.

Talon of God by Wesley Snipes and Ray Norman
**I saw Wesley Snipes and I had to check it out. Holy warriors, demonic possessions, and a doctor who doesn't believe in any of it. The description solidified my wanting to read it.

This Week's Reads

The New Voices of Fantasy edited by Peter S Beagle
**I haven't heard of many of these authors so looking forward to find some new things to read. I love anthologies. They are a great way to see if you like an author's writing style without having to read a full book.

Wonder Woman Vol. 1 The Lies by Greg Rucka
**I really liked the last Wonder Woman graphic that I read. This is not in the same set but still looks really good.

Magic Slays by Ilona Andrews
Kate Daniels #5 (Goodreads)
**I glad I decided to start this series. I like the interactions between Kate and all the different shifters. Then of course there is Curran. I liked the fact that their relationship wasn't an insta love and they are still working through everythings.

This Week's Reads

City of Light
by Charmedy (DeviantArt)

The Shadow Cipher by Laura Ruby
York #1 (Goodreads)
**I'll admit that I thought this book was titled York and The Shadow Cipher was the series name. Still like the cover just a bit confusing.
This is a middle grade book but the premise sounds really interesting and I've had better luck with middle grade books than some adult ones.

Rare by Joel Sartore
Portraits of America's Endangered Species (Goodreads)
**We really like animals and coffee table books. My son is especially interested in endangered animals so this was one we had to take a look at.

The Flintstones Vol. 1 by Mark Russell, Steve Pugh (Illustrations)
**This was pure nostalgia. I loved this show when I was younger. I saw this one the new shelf at the library and had to grab it.

This Week's Reads

Tesla Towers
by  HalTenny (DeviantArt)

Wonder Woman Vol 2: Year One by  Greg Rucka, illustrated by Nicola Scott  (Goodreads)
**I enjoyed Wonder Woman (the show) when I was little but do not remember much of her backstory. Decided to try and catch up with this set of graphic novels.

The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell
**This one was on my looking forward to list for 2017. The whole New York and magic reminds me of another set of books but the description sounds like its own.

Devil's Cut by J.R. Ward
The Bourbon Kings #3 (Goodreads)
**Final book in this trilogy. I've liked this series more than I thought I would considering it is contemporary romance. I usually don't like anything contemporary.
