Book Review ~Across the Universe

Across the Universe (#1)
By Beth Revis
Published By Razorbill

Summary (Goodreads): A love out of time. A spaceship built of secrets and murder.
Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.
Amy quickly realizes that her awakening was no mere computer malfunction. Someone-one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship-tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn't do something soon, her parents will be next.
Now Amy must race to unlock Godspeed's hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there's only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming.

My Thoughts: I'll admit I was concerned when I started reading this book. It is very similar to Maria V. Snyders Inside Out series. Luckily those similarities ended with the spaceship and the living tiers of the inhabitants, this book is very much its own story. What worked the most for me was the story being told from two different POVs. It made the story flow while giving you both sides of the ship.
I really liked Amy, she was stuck in an unimaginable situation and still managed to come out the other side. I'm still not sure how I feel about Elder, especially after the last part of the book, so it made the relationship between him and Amy just kinda blah for me.
Overall I thought this was an enjoyable story that had enough drama and action to keep it interesting from beginning to end.
