This Weeks Reads

The Poe Estate by Polly Shulman (Goodreads)

I'm almost done with this one. I did not know until I was doing this post that it was part of a series. It reads well and I have not felt like I was missing anything from the previous two books.

Mycroft Holmes by Kareem Abdul- Jabbar & Anna Waterhouse (Goodreads)

This was more a curiosity pick than anything. Holmes stories tend to be hit and miss for me. My first thought when I saw this was "Is that the basketball player" (it is). Then I saw him on tv talking about how he became interested in Sherlock Holmes and why he wrote the story and it made me more curious about it. Hoping to start this one this week but with Thanksgiving may not get much reading in.

I liked the first movie and I'm glad this one is bringing back my favorite character (the queen). I also really like the posters for the two queens.

This Week's Reads

I'm still trying to finish Sorcerer to the Crown from last week but moved on since it wasn't fully keeping my attention.

The Drafter by Kim Harrison (Goodreads)

I'm only about a 1/4 of the way through this but I'm enjoying it so far. I am finding I'm more interested in the story than the characters. I haven't decided if I like Peri or not. One moment I would say yes and the next I just want to move on to something else.

Ice Like Fire by Sara Raasch (Goodreads)

I'm hoping to get to this one as well this week. I ended up liking the first one more than I thought I would while reading it.

TV
Finally watched season three of Arrow. It was a very up and down season for me. I liked most of the regular story-line but the Hong Kong flashbacks were very dull and didn't add enough to warrant being added. Need to watch season one of The Flash so some episodes or comments would make more sense.


I'll admit I don't really watch any of the housewives shows. They just have never grabbed my interest. Yet, I find myself loving Ladies of London. I don't know if it's their accents, locations, or what but I find it much more interesting with some trainwreck goodness thrown in.

This Week's Reads

This is to highlight some books that I'm reading this week.

Sorcerer to the Crown by Zen Cho (Goodreads) : This one is starting slow but I'm still hoping it picks up. I like the setting and find Zacharias' story to be one I want to know more about. I'm not sure about Miss Gentleman yet. I want to like her but so far I'm on the fence.

The Merchant of Dreams (Night's Masque #2) by Anne Lyle (Goodreads) : I'm just starting this one but found it easy to fall back into the world of Mal and Colby. Between rogue groups of skraylings and Mal reconnected with his brother and old friend this is looking promising. Hoping there is not too much focus on a real relationship between Mal and Colby (the only thing I didn't like about book 1).

Still in a reading slump, even trying series I know I usually enjoy is not working. In the meantime, I've been binge watching and falling into internet time sucks.
