This Week's Reads

Ireland Abandoned
by Elementalist (DeviantArt)
**Haven't done one of these in awhile. Have been sick a lot lately. Mostly sinuses, which causes pain all around my eyes, making difficult to read. Finally getting back to normal.

Wild Country by Anne Bishop
The Others #7 (Goodreads)
**Just finished this one. This wasn't my favorite but it's still one of my favorite series. I'll also probably reread this one again to pick up on things I might have missed.

Off Planet by Aileen Erin
Aunare Chronicles #1 (Goodreads)
**Received this from the publisher, Ink Monster, via NetGalley. I liked the author's supernatural series so I was willing to give this one a try. I'm hit or miss with sci-fi. Not far into this one but so far I like it.

Cast in Oblivion by Michelle Sagara
Chronicles of Elantra #14 (Goodreads)
**Another favorite series. This one seems to be getting better. It might be that I was happier with Kaylin in this one. She seemed to finally be getting that she actually needs to learn something about the symbols on her body and what she is able to do with them.

This Week's Reads

Dragon Lake Valley
by HammySan (DeviantArt)

Catwoman: Soulstealer by Sarah J Maas
DC Icons #3 (Goodreads)
**I've wanted to read this one since I first saw the cover. I really liked Wonder Woman by Leigh Bardugo, wasn't as crazy about the Batman book by Marie Lu but it was still well written and kept me reading until the end. Since I don't follow the DC comics outside of shows and movies I'm more looking for entertainment than anything that follows a set path.

Red Rising by Pierce Brown
Red Rising #1 (Goodreads)
**This one caught my eye when I was browsing for something different to read. I've been wanting to read it since it first came out just never got around to it.

The Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop
(Goodreads)
**This is another reread for me. As stated before, one of my favorite authors, and this is definitely one of my favorite trilogies.

This Week's Reads

Grimm Fairy Tales
by CarmenSinek (DeviantArt)

Doctor Who: Time Lord Fairy Tales by Justin Richards
Illustrated by David Wardle (Goodreads)
**So far this is one of my favorite reads this year. There's a Sci-Fi Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella with a sonic screwdriver (and vampires), and currently reading The Three Little Sontarans. Along with many more, these are nice short takes on fairy tales with a Doctor Who world twist.

Even with all the great new books, that I want to read, I find myself rereading a lot at the moment. These are the two series I'm giving another go.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling
Harry Potter #3 (Goodreads)
**I've been wanting to read this one again for a few years. We had to suggest a loved book for our sons summer reading and gave him book one. It was all the motivation I needing to finally read them again.

Written in Red by Anne Bishop
The Others #1 (Goodreads)
**I love Anne Bishop (The Black Jewels Trilogy is one of my all time favorite series). This series has really pulled me in and I always end up finishing them within a day (or two). Then I instantly want more. It's been awhile since I read the early books so fun to read them again.

This Week's Reads

Mother of Earth
by SifterOne (DeviantArt)
**A bunch of series reads this week

Lake Silence by Anne Bishop
The Others #6 (Goodreads)
**I've loved this series since book 1. Even the not great ones are still really good. The fact that we are spreading out into other parts of The Others world and meeting /interacting with other characters makes it even better and helps to stop it from getting stale.

The Gathering of The Lost by Helen Lowe
The Wall of Night (Goodreads)
**I'm worried about this one only because I cannot remember much from book 1. I'm hoping it will come back as I start reading this. On the plus, this seems to have better reviews than The Heir of Night.

A Local Habitation by Seanan McGuire
October Daye #2 (Goodreads)
**I had grabbed Rosemary and Rue and started to read it only to realize that I had already read it. Then found that I had book 3 but not this one.  The mix of fairie and modern worlds plus the detective mystery angle was well done in book 1, hoping for more in this one.

Etched in Bone by Anne Bishop
The Others #5 (Goodreads)
**I really enjoyed this series and for some reason thought book 4 was the last book. Not complaining always up for a new book from this author.

Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs
Mercy Thompson #10 (Goodreads)
**This is another of my favorite authors/series. I like the thought of Mercy more on her own (across an ocean from her pack)and getting back to how it was at the beginning of the series.

The Devil's Feast by M.J. Carter
Avery & Blake #3 (Goodreads)
** Received this from Penguin's First Reads program. Not familiar with the series but it sound like a good historical fiction mystery which I tend to enjoy.

This Week's Reads

~ Not much this week. I'm really trying to read more of the books I own, which didn't stop me from requesting more from the library this week.

50 Greatest Red Wings by Bob Duff
Goodreads
**I've been a Red Wings fan for a long time. Couldn't pass this up when I was at the library.

The Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop
Goodreads
**As stated trying to read more of my own books. I own all nine books in this series but have only read books 1-3 and 7-8. It's been awhile since I read this trilogy so I decided to do a reread before getting into the rest of the books.

Can't Wait Books 2016

Starting off the New Year looking forward. These are just some of the books I cannot wait to read this year.

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare (The Dark Artifices #1)
Goodreads
expected release date: March 8, 2016
**I haven't really kept up to date on her Shadow Hunter's but something about the book blurb just caught my attention. May end up waiting to see what people who have actually read it say.

Passenger by Alexandra Bracken
Goodreads
expected release date: January 5, 2016
**This is the one I've seen on every year end/looking forward blog I've read the past couple of weeks. I always worry when there is so much hype but really hoping this one lives up to it all.

A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab
Goodreads
expected release date: February 23, 2016
**I've been waiting for this book since the day I finished A Darker Shade of Magic. Loved just about everything about book 1 and cannot wait to go back to Kell, Rhy, and Lila's world.

Fire Touched by Patricia Briggs
Goodreads
expected release date: March 8, 2016
**A world I have loved since the first. Whether it is this series or Alpha and Omega they always seem to end way too soon.

Marked in Flesh by Anne Bishop (The Others #4)
Goodreads
expected release date: March 8, 2016
**Another Author/Series that is always on my favorites list. I love the world of The Others just as much as I loved her Black Jewels world.

Seven Black Diamonds by Melissa Marr
Goodreads
expected release date: March 1, 2016
**Almost passed by this one without reading what it was about. The cover looks more like a contemporary read than a fantasy that takes place in faerie.

The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan
Goodreads
expected release date: May 3, 2016
**I'm a sucker for all things Rick Riordan writes.

Truthwitch by Susan Dennard
Goodreads
expected release date: January 5, 2015
**Another that I've seen everywhere. Also, I love witches.
